It's that time! The annual Floral Park Recreation Center Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for this Saturday, March 31st. Activities will begin at 9 am.

This is probably not the post that you expected, as it is a bit more informal today. But I could (and should) write a book about the crazy things I have seen over the past 10 years while selling real estate. You would be truly amazed. And then there are the times where we just go above and beyone for our clients. We want to get the home sold and we want to make our client happy. From feeding and playing with their dog (when the owner couldn't get home for awhile) to cleaning up people's houses before a showing, yes, we do it all. Now listing a fixer upper in Stewart Manor with lime green carpeting from 50 years ago - and a family that was unable to remove it - we were able to have the carpet and old furniture removed, and floors cleaned. Why? Buried underneath the carpet and years of dirt, we found a treasure in that house: beautiful Oak Floors with an Inlay around the perimeter of the rooms. This is not something you see in every house! So was the time and effort put in worth it? Yes, because now we will have a buyer who walks into that house and will be able to see the historic beauty and potential of the house. The Floral Park-Bellerose School District will continue to offer a half-day kindergarten program for the 2012-2013 school year. Children who live in the district and will be five years old on or before December 1, 2012 are eligible to attend. Registration will be held on March 30th from 10 am to 11:30 am at both the John Lewis Childs School and the Floral Park-Bellerose School. Spring has sprung in Floral Park and it is a beautiful site to behold! As you walk around the village, listening to the birds singing, you'll notice the Daffodils and Crocuses in bloom. It is a special time of year in the Village, as Floral Park was founded by John Lewis Child, who established the first seed catalog business in America! (Yes, drive around and notice all the streets named after flowers and trees.) We take great pride in our flowers and trees which lend such beauty to this wonderful village. Happy Spring!

On Saturday, March 10th, the Floral Park Fire Department will host their annual St. Patrick's Day Fundraiser in Firemen's Hall at One Floral Blvd. from 7 PM to 11PM. Admission is $40 and includes dinner, music and dancing.

On Saturday, March 3rd, Floral Park Little League will hold their last in person registration at the Floral Park Recreation Center from 10 am to 1 pm. In person registration is required for first time registrants only. New registrants must show proof of FP Village residency and a birth certificate.
